Knowing that I am created in the image of God gives me a certain kind of respect for my body and person. It makes me feel more grateful and aware of my body and the many wonderful things it is capable of. It also helps me feel a little bit closer to God, in a similar way to knowing I am his daughter does. There is a certain feeling of potential received from knowing your specific origins, and the success of said origins. This is why being aware of my divine heritage is so important to my spiritual growth and personal confidence. Our Heavenly Father is very aware of this, and that is why I believe so much of our curriculum is focused on teaching us about our roles as children of him. It is this spiritual parent/child relationship that gives us our divine nature, or in other words, our divine potential, which allows us to be capable of so much more than this world has to offer.
The world is currently very focused on undermining gender and ignoring the different strengths and weaknesses of each sex. Knowing that this is an eternal and God-given characteristic helps counteract this belief and gives more of a sense of purpose to relationships and marriage, which is are a significant part of families and God's plan of happiness. Satan's obvious attempt to destroy the defining characteristics of gender is therefore a subtle attack on the Plan of Salvation and the blessings and safety it provides for God’s children. Being able to discern this false perception makes me less likely to fall for his counterfeit family ideals and numerous ploys for ruining martial relationships in my own life and in the lives of those I love.
